The movie would be based on the best-selling "Left Behind" books and is being written and produced by Paul Lalonde and John Patus, who led the original film version released in 2001.
"Left Behind" revolves around the biblical rapture and the people left behind on Earth when the world's Christians are summoned en masse to heaven.
The Reporter said the new version of "Left Behind" will aim for a larger audience and will be more of a mainstream disaster-action flick, focusing on the first few hours of the rapture and the "survivors" left to deal with what's left of the world.
