Canadian strip clubs recruit students

UPI News Service, 08/29/2012

Two Canadian strip clubs have offered female college students tuition assistance in return for removing their clothes in public.

The clubs are both in Windsor, Ontario, across from Detroit, CTV News Channel reported.

Richard Kurland, an attorney for the Adult Entertainment Association, said the clubs have turned to students because of a federal law adopted in July that revoked 800 temporary visas granted dancers working in adult clubs. The purpose of the law was to protect foreign women who might be at risk of human trafficking.

Kurland said as long as clubs operate legally a job as a stripper could be a good one for a student.

"It mirrors other businesses that seek to recruit students on a part-time basis. If some of the people can earn tuition with short hours and big bucks, good on them," he said. "As long as the activity is legal, why not?"
