Elgin police said officers responded to a report of an armed robbery around 2:26 p.m. Monday and the victim told them the robber's forehead was tattooed, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.
Police said they soon spotted a suspect matching the description of the robber with a "distinctive tattoo" in a nearby alley and he was recognized as Jesus Martinez, 22, who had been released on parole in December after serving 10 months of a two-year theft sentence.
Martinez, who police said was carrying cash and business checks belonging to the victim, was charged with felony counts of armed robbery with a firearm and robbery.
