Nintendo reports intrusion by hacker of Sony's online gaming system
UPI News Service, 06/05/2011
Nintendo said Sunday hackers had gotten into the Web site of its U.S. subsidiary several weeks ago and leaked some information to the Internet.
No user information was compromised in the incident, which occurred in the wake a major break-in involving Sony's online gaming system, the company said.
Kyodo News reported Nintendo did not immediately report the breach because there was no personal information involved.
The attack apparently was the work of a group called Lulzsec, which claimed credit for the intrusion into the Sony system. The Wall Street Journal reported Lulzsec posted a server configuration filed on the Internet and then sent out a message on Twitter reading, "We sincerely hope Nintendo plugs the gap."
