Violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman to play with Nashville Symphony
UPI News Service, 10/05/2010
The Nashville Symphony says violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman is to join it for the grand reopening of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center on New Year's Eve.
The concert hall is expected to be fully restored by then, following extensive damage, estimated at about $40 million, caused by a May flood.
Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero will lead the orchestra in the concert, which is to begin at 9 p.m. Dec. 31.
"We are beyond thrilled about returning to Schermerhorn Symphony Center," Nashville Symphony President and Chief Executive Officer Alan Valentine said in a statement.
"This is a truly momentous occasion, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate than by having Itzhak join the orchestra. We are deeply honored that he has decided to spend his New Year's Eve with us."
