The theater, located in the Harlem neighborhood of the Manhattan borough, said performers including rappers, singers, comedians, dancers and acrobats will compete Friday for one of 15 spots in the Feb. 9, 2011, show, the New York Daily News reported Friday.
"It'll really be a hometown night for Brooklynites," said Marion Caffey, executive producer of Amateur Night at the Apollo.
"And I think shining our light on the borough just increases the chance of digging out a gold nugget or a diamond in the rough."
Three performers from the Feb. 9 show will compete for a $10,000 prize at the close of the 2011 season, the theater said.
