The popular New York rocker told MTV.com he has signed a deal with Kelsey "Frasier" Grammer's production company and the two are developing a TV drama series.

"We're looking to find the right home for that," he said of the project. "It's something I think is missing in TV today, a great family drama. We're being very picky right now 'cause we really believe in the project and we want it to last."

Maroulis says he's been "busting my butt" working on a solo album and booking a fall tour with his band Pray for the Soul of the Betty.

In the meantime, he's whipping across the country with the American Idols Live tour and will have a cut on the star-studded CD, "Killer Queen: A Tribute to Queen" due out Aug. 9.
