"The Simple Life" may be a lot harder for feuding co-stars Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie because they are both under contract for another season.

Fox Network head Peter Ligouri told the Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles Thursday he doesn't follow the gossip swirling around his socialite stars, who reportedly went their separate ways after a public split last spring.

Hilton made the tabloid and talk show rounds repeating: "Nicole knows what she did" and lobbied for her new best friend Kimberly Stewart to replace Richie in the reality series.

However, Ligouri said the temperamental twosome "will both be ready for work" when it comes time to shoot the mid-season replacement series.
