Los Angeles authorities are considering charging "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul in an alleged hit-and-run episode earlier this week.

The driver of another vehicle complained to the California Highway Patrol after his car allegedly was struck by Abdul's Mercedes on a Los Angeles freeway, "Celebrity Justice" reported Friday.

No one was injured in the mishap, but the driver used a camera phone to snap a picture of the Mercedes as it drove off and one of his passengers identified the celebrity.

The Los Angeles city attorney is "very seriously" considering filing a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge in the case, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of one year behind bars.

Abdul's publicist said nothing was known about any such incident.
