Reality TV Casting News - August 2006
Confirming weeks of rumors, CBS has revealed the identities of the twenty castaways who will be competing in this fall's Survivor: Cook Islands and announced that the castaways will -- in what the show's producer and host both acknowledge to be a controversial move -- initially be organized into four tribes divided along ethnic lines (African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic and Caucasian.)
After several weeks of on-air teaser promos, Fox has revealed the identities of the eight celebrities that will compete on Celebrity Duets, a new Simon Cowell-created reality competition series that will pair established recording stars with celebrities who work outside the music industry.
The CW, the new network resulting from the merger of UPN and The WB, has revealed the identities of the wannabe models -- which include the show's first-ever set of twins -- who will be competing on the upcoming "seventh cycle" of Tyra Banks' America's Next Top Model reality series.
After two weeks of on-air promotions that teased that this fall's The Biggest Loser 3 would feature fifty competitors, NBC has come clean and acknowledged that only fourteen of the fifty "contestants" (probably more accurately termed semifinalists) will make it past an initial fitness and nutrition boot camp and immediately move on to competing in the show's traditional The Biggest Loser Ranch competition.
After months of rumors, ABC has formally revealed the identities of the celebrities who will be competing on this fall's third edition of its Dancing with the Stars smash-hit reality ballroom competition.
